In 1993 Rev. Terry Scott and his family moved to Sayreville, New Jersey from Oklahoma, to Pioneer a new Assembly of God Church.
Beginning prayer meetings in their home in June of 1993, Pastor Scott and a handful of faithful people began searching for a place to launch this new ministry. After an exhaustive search, the pastor and congregation of the Messiah Lutheran Church on Bordentown Ave., in Parlin, opened their doors to this small group of believers. With great anticipation for all that God was about to do, the first service for Sayreville Worship Center was held on Sunday, November 2, 1993 at 6:00 p.m.
For the next four years the congregation prayed and worked together in one mind and one accord. Soon we began seeing a hunger in the hearts of those in the community, for the exciting worship and preaching that S.W.C. offered. With outreach ministries such as the Tent Crusades and Revival Services, as well as personal evangelism, the church began to grow in numbers as well as in Spiritual depth. The church was now ready for a building to call their own, to minister to the growing needs of the congregation, but it seemed that every avenue that was sought, became a dead end.
Early in 1997, came a call that would bring change, excitement and new challenges for this growing congregation; the availability to purchase the property at 63 Cliffwood Ave., Cliffwood, NJ. Only four miles from their current location, God began to move mountains of obstacles, parting the waters of unbelief to make this dream a reality. In June of 1997, Sayreville Worship Center with the cooperation of New Jersey District Council of the Assemblies of God purchased this property. Along with the new location came a fresh vision for the church which also provided a new name, Harvest Time Worship Center.
The highlight of this ministry has been the privilege of seeing God move in the lives of His people; through salvation, healing, deliverance and the hope that Jesus brings. Although we are thankful for the structure God provides for us to minister, we have come to realize that the building is not the church, it is the body; it's not the property, but the people. Harvest Time Worship Center is comprised of real people, from all walks of life, countries and ethnic backgrounds who struggle with hurts, sickness, trials and temptations. They are finding hope, and healing through the Word of God and the Blood of Jesus Christ, overcoming their problems through Him!
The history of this body of believers is powerful, but we are excited about the present and the future of our church. We know that the "field is white unto harvest," and we are trusting God for a bountiful harvest of souls.
